Projection Issues
How do I avoid having a blue "input detection" screen go up on my projector when I switch inputs from a computer to a DVD player? I don't have the money for a big professional video set-up, but I want our transitions to be as smooth as possible.

Easy Worship solved these problems for us. We go from a cropped DVD section with a fade to black and then click on our Logo button, Logo jpeg appears; then click 'go live' with our next song and it will appear when I click on the Logo to make it dissapear. It is simple, our newbies learn it in minutes and the software is less money than a Switcher. (Harbinger is a good name in switcher). We run QuickTime clips from YouTube, promo DVD clips, cropped movies, (i.e. Amazing Grace), all PowerPoints with custom animation, Countdown timer and Jpegs while never leaving the Easy Worship presentation software. There are a lot of items to handle on Sunday morning, and this one program greatly helps me get the job done on time with very few drawbacks.

Have you looked at the projector's internal settings. Our projector allows for black or blue. It was a simple setting change to get rid of the blue screen.

Our church projector has several input types, and a USB input that allows switching the projector input using the computer. The computer is connected to the VGA input of the projector, the DVD player is connected to the composite video input, and a USB cable is connected from the computer to the projector During the service I have 3-4 applications open; the song projection software, the projector control software, powerpoint, and the audio recording software. When we need to switch from displaying the song lyrics, or sermon powerpoint, I just go to the projector control software and click on VIDEO. When the DVD clip is done, I click on INPUT 1 to go back to the song/sermon.

Hello. My first response as an official type person here. The short answer to your question: The issue is that you are currently using the projector to switch between your various sources - computer, DVD, etc. It's smoother to pull that function out of the projector and use another device. The challenge is to make the types of signals match. You can either down-convert your computer signal to a video signal, and use a video switcher such as Videonics or a Panasonic MX-20. In this case the output from the video switcher would be a video line that would go to your projector. This can be a cheaper solution depending on the equipment you choose, but less expensive video equipment ill really degrade the signal. Or, you can use a scalar to "up-convert" video signal to a computer signal. This (usually) creates a higher-quality signal but results in more expensive equipment. Good scalars are pricier than good video switchers.

You need a video switcher. Call Harbinger Communications or look them up on the internet for reasonable solutions.
