Top 10 Social Justice Videos
Videos to get people thinking about social issues.

Oftentimes, we want to address social justice issues, but we don't quite know where to start. No one disagrees that the church ought to be doing something to combat poverty, become peacemakers, help the homeless, and feed the hungry. Our methods and philosophies might differ, but the command to "clothe the naked and feed the hungry" is pretty clearly given throughout Scripture.

Visual media is a great place to introduce these topics. Putting a human face on worldwide suffering and pain is sometimes a productive way to get people to start thinking about social issues. Projecting a bunch of statistics on the screen about how many people are dying on a daily basis in Zambia because of AIDS is important (and necessary), but a visual complement showing actual people with AIDS and how the church can mobilize to assist them can stick the statistic into peoples' heads.

Here at FaithVisuals.com, we think it's extraordinarily important for the church to be involved in social justice issues. The following are the top ten videos available (in no particular order) from FaithVisuals.com that will start these important conversations:

You're right! The gospel doesn't only take shape in the spiritual realm. It encroaches on the powers, principalities, and injustices of the physical world. Videos can drive home the urgency of social justive ministries in a powerful way. Thanks for making these available!

Thank you for taking the time to focus on the issue of social justice in the church. Conversation about engaging in the weaker parts of our world is infinitely easier than the actual engagement. These videos look like powerful tools to bring about the realization of action.

I think "Plainfield" is right on target--the New York Times ran a column by Nicholas Kristof last week called "The Darfur Puppy" about how it's hard to move specifically Americans to action when we talk about the problems and social issues confronting a people group. But if we can make that problem more personal--talking about how it affects one single person--we can move people to action. And your video suggestions totally help with that--they put a human face on the big issues that are sometimes hard to grasp or really wrap our minds around. Thanks for posting the list!
